Luxembourg finishes 7th

Thursday evening,
Wales – Luxembourg 7 – 1.
The ecc cgroup favourite was simply too constant in its play for the less experienced Luxembourg team.
The result was therefore logical.

Friday morning,

Luxembourg- Belarus 4- 10.

The lux national team fighted, but could not beat the belarus team, that finally brought his best performance of the Championship.
(they were together with Wales and Ireland the favorites of the C-Group!)

The Championship is now over for the Luxembourgers and they finish at the 7 th place with 2 victories.
Jörg Moeser, Yves Sieradzki, Claude Schweitzer, Alex Benoy and Marc Hansen can be proud of their performance.
Good representation of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg in the international Curling World.

In winning two matches (against Iceland and Serbia), they doubled their expectations. Unfortunately they do not finish before Serbia, as they won 4 matches.

Tomorrow will take place the play-offs between Wales, Romania, Slovenia and Serbia for the 4 first places.
Final results places 5 to 8:
5. Belarus and Ireland 3 victories
7. Luxembourg 2 victories
8. Iceland 0 victories

Luxembourg loss against strong Slovenian team.

In the first match of the second day, Luxembourg looses against a strongly playing slovenian team 11-3.
The luxembourgers didn´t find into the game and could never hope for a second win being 4-0 down after the second end already.
The Slovenians played a very concentrated match, where the Luxembourgers had in no moment a chance to make the game become close.

The next chance for the team will be at 19.00 this evening, where the team has to bring a similar performance than against Iceland to have a chance to beat the Romanians…

Luxembourg defeats Island!!!

In the second match of the first day of the competition a very well playing Luxembourg National Team with Jörg Moeser (skip), Yves Sieradzki, Claude Schweitzer and Marc Hansen defeats Island 12-4!!!

After a first match in the morning against a favourite of the C-Group: Ireland where Alex Benoy played Lead instead of Marc Hansen, they lost 11-4 against a stronger team than the Luxembourgers logically.

standings after the first day are Belarus 2 victories, all others 1 victory and island 0 victories out of two matches.

Tomorrow against Slovenia in the morning and Roumania in the afternoon will bring more information whether the Luxembourgers will be able to compete for a playoff place…..
